The theme includes basic <meta> tag support with the following behavior

Title, browser tab

page_title - site_name

Title, social media embeds

page_title - site_name | The University of Alabama

Description

The description will use the post excerpt, if it has one. It will use the site tagline as a fallback, and will be blank if the tagline is empty.

Image

The image pulls from the page or posts Featured Image

You can use https://metatags.io/ to test rich link embeds.

Using a plugin

You're welcome to use a plugin like Yoast, but you'll need to disable the default meta tags. You can do this by going to Customize > Site Settings
